One of the many things that really bugs me about alternate universes where the Potters live is that they are inevitably friends with the Weasleys. Why do authors do this? There is no evidence in any of the Harry Potter books that the families were friends or even knew each other (as opposed to knew of). Molly and Arthur are both older then Lily and James would have been. They might have gone to Hogwarts at the same time but in Harry's years at Hogwarts the different years don't interact much with each other, why would this have been different in previous years? Just because James was a pureblood doesn't mean he would automatically band together with other pureblood families. For example the Weasleys and the Malfoys don't get along and their both purebloods. The biggest piece of evidence I see that they would not have been great friends is that Molly doesn't like Sirius. Sirius and James were best friends and described as being like twins. The two of them also played many pranks, something Molly dislikes and disapproves of (just look at her actions with the twins). I don't understand how they would have become friends. Anyways just a random rant.

This is my review of the Kindle. The Kindle is practical and will gain popularity because of its ease of use and the fact that its new technology, it won't however have the same emotional pull as books. The Kindle is very easy to use even after just one attempt at using it I know how to use it. The way the archive is set up is practical and make sense. Its also very practical because while reading a book there is a automatic dictionary that will pop up for unknown words. You can also write notes as you read. The only negative aspect of the note taking is that instead of a regular key board there is a symbol key for all symbols which can get annoying. The only other problem is that it seems very unemotional, with books you can feel the pages and any bends and folds in them, they seem very REAL but with the kindle you don't turn the page its just there. I don't know call me old fashioned but I think I will still love books more that the Kindle.

This is a review for the amazing book "Love for Sale: A World History of Prostitution" by Nils Ringdal. The concept of the book is utterly fascinating, it's not just a history of prostitution but of love, marriage and the morality of different time periods. Each chapter is devoted to a country, civilization or continent. We start out in Mesopotamia and end up in the global modern world. He talks about temple prostitutes who were priestesses in Mesopotamia. Each chapter is in-depth and gives a brief history of the area/ civilization he is writing about at the time. Once prostitution becomes unacceptable to European society he talks about their morality debates, laws imposed and punishments that were allowed. He also writes about sexuality in each time period, what a good marriage was (a partnership, a treaty between two families, a trade agreement) and the relatively modern notion of love. Utterly fascinating for anyone who is interesting in a global perspective on sex or prostitution. My only critique is that in some chapters he definitely doesn't give enough information to satisfy my curiosity.

I ordered "Kimonos" which is this collection of 365 photos of, what else, kimono. Anyways the book also talks about the significance of kimono and who can wear what and how the design of Kimono have changed over the years. It's really fascinating. The book also has information on how to put on a kimono and the different obi ties. I'm so happy it came, I have another book from Amazon coming, I wonder when it'll arrive?

Okay so if anyone is reading this go read that book. Its short its sweet and I cracked up reading it. This book was amazing. The stories were cool enough to be cool but nerdy enough to have relate ability. Awesome. The book is a memoir of Allyson Beatrice's experiences in the Buffy fandom. It doesn't really have anything to do with Buffy, its just really good. There are orthodox jews, lesbian christmas trees, and ita. Just read the book you will not regret it.

    <lj:music>Glay</lj:music>

Hello I just wanted to post this story please critique (if anybody's reading this) <br /> Once upon a time there was a very rainy city. This city hadn’t always been very rainy. Originally the city had been surrounded by reservoirs and where Sky met Earth the people had prayed. The separation between Sky and people only began with the rain. Before the rain Sky and the people had been happy. River supplied enough water that rain was rare and Sky could always see her favorite people. Then Ivy came, from across the mountains and the ocean. Ivy saw that the only place where his business could survive, and possibly thrive, was by River, so by River Ivy sunk in his roots and started mass producing. Then Ivy realized that, if he stole resources from other plants, he could create a chain store. So he out branched and started to exploit the farmer’s plants for resources. <br />	With this the farmers became angry, the townspeople also realized that without their naturally grown organic foods they wouldn’t survive, and what about the christmas trees? So the townspeople gathered their lawyers together and called Ivy to set up a meeting. They knew Ivy could not be sued because mass production wasn’t illegal, and still isn’t. The people pleaded with Ivy to stop exploiting their plants. Ivy, of course, refused and denied all allegations. The only deal the people and Ivy made was about Christmas trees. Ivy had agreed to stay out of Christmas tree lots because, in return, Ivy got a free Christmas tree, every year.<br />	After the meeting the people called to Sky for advice. (Sky is a very good consultant) Sky asked to talk to Ivy alone, one on oe, to broker a deal. The people agreed. Sky asked that the people not question about what would happen in the meeting. reluctantly, the people agreed. Then Sky went to the meeting, alone and brokered a deal. Ivy agreed to not go onto land that was being used for something practical. The people were ecstatic, they could now go back to their naturally grown organic foods.<br />	People are, of course, naturally curious. People want to know what is happening and this will always prove their downfall. The people obeyed the regulations that Sky had set down until one day when their curiosity overrode their common sense. Then they waited and waited until finally a day came when Sky’s eyes were blinded by rain and she could no longer see her favorite people. Then, when the people were sure she was blind to them, they stole into Sky’s office and stole her records of the meeting. While they were reading the records, of the one on one meeting, a young child decided to go outside. Outside the young child started to dance in the rain, and then the child happened to look upon the angry face of Sky. Frightened the child ran inside and alarmed the other people about Sky's appearance. The rain had cleared and the people had been too absorbed to hide away the evidence of their break in. The people’s betrayal was now laid bare before all. <br />	Sky was furious! These people, how dare they? She, Sky had intervened on their behalf. How could they? They had only had two demands made of them. They had questioned her and in doing so had broken the bonds of trust. And the people cowered in the face of Sky’s rage. But the child, who had danced in the rain, stepped forward. The young child stepped forward and spoke to Sky. The child explained to Sky how the people were well within the boundaries of the agreement. They hadn’t questioned Sky, they had broken in, stolen her records, and destroyed client privacy but they hadn’t questioned her. <br />	At this Sky was furious. Not only had they betrayed her but they had the gall to say it was a legal move. Unfortunately Sky could find no hole on this logic and had to concede the point. The people’s actions angered Sky so much that she asked for rain to always obscure her vision of this city. In this way rage full Sky learned the true nature of people.<br />	Sometimes, however, Sky slips up and the very rainy city is allowed a glimpse at her visage before she vanishes in a cloud of hatred. That is the true reason of why it always rains in Portland, Ivy is never found in christmas tree lots and people who use their land for practical purposes don’t have Ivy problems.

Also, in on of my first class a student was giving away free muffins, so giving into temptation I ate one (even though its passover/ pesach and I'm not supposed to eat bread) then my teacher had gotten us doughnuts, so I ate a mapple bar. How could I resist such temtation? Anyways what I really wanted to say was that this is the first time I've ever broken Pesach. This movie blew my mind. Its about Sophie Scholl, who is a nurse and student during world war two, it takes place near the end, 1943. Sophie is part of an underground society of students that are against the war, (they grafiti wals with the word freedom) they print leaflets about Germany's military losses. Then when Sophie and her brother Han put leaflets in the auditorium they are cought. At first it appears that they will get away with it.Then they don't. The movie is abput Sophie Scholl's last six days. Who ever is reading this (anyone, hello, please?) I think you should rent this mvie and buy it.
